Alfons Mucha’s Slav Epic in Prague

The Prague Epic is a set of 20 large monumental canvases painted by Czech Art Nouveau painter Alfons Mucha between 1910 – 1928. The collection depicts the mythology and history of Czechs and other Slavic peoples. In 1928, after finishing his monumental work, Mucha gave the artworks to the city of Prague on one condition, that the city build a special pavilion for it. In 2012, all 20 paintings were then moved and are displayed at Veletržní Palace in an permanent exhibition by the National Gallery in Prague were they are now on display.
